End of 2012 and cakes 2013

December 2012

Arriving in the USA for my son Wayde wedding to Ashley in Park City.  Of course I decided to make the wedding cake, Chocolate with cream cheese filling, vanilla with strawberries and cream filling for the Groom and carrot cake for the bride.  Not knowing anything about cake support, the carrot cake which was the top tier starting to sink and luckily we managed to stabalise the cake until the happy couple cut the cake.
The happy couple Wayde and Ashley

One of the tiers had already been removed by then
Eating cakeThumbs up

Proud mom (me) with my son and new daughter.

January 2013

Start the year and my little grandson turns 1.  He loves the Lorax, so again google became my friend to find out about this little character.
  Cute cake. Cute baby.

A rocket cake for a little boy, he was thrilled with the lights on the board.

February 2013

Next came a pirate ship for my nephew.   I didn't have time to make all the little finishes, so I bought a little pirate toy set and added in all the little parts.

The same weekend another little girl had her first birthday party.

 March 2013

Again google was my friend when I got a Dora the Explorer cake.

A little army tank with lights
Teapot and teacups all edible

 April 2013

Rainbow cake inside and out.
Handbag, purse, shoes and cigarettes all edible
Another shaun the sheep cake for my little nephew.  As I hate doing something twice I tried another version of him.

 May 2013

Avengers cake with a Thor hammer, a torch with a blue light was built into the hammer which was made from rice krispie treats.

Handbag and shoe cake for my sister's birthday.  The handbag was all buttercream and the shoe fondant.  Pity the pinks didn't match up.  Oh well next time.....
A cake for a guy, don't get many of those. I handpainted the fondant with colouring and vodka. Steamed the cake with the steamer to give it a nice sheen.
Amazing how lighting can change the colour of the cake.

Mother's day cakes for the moms.

June 2013

My son turned 25 and he is a musician, I loved this cake when I saw it so I tried my hand at this.  He loved the cake.

A cute cake for my son's girlfriend, again leaves instead of plain fondant.

A chicken cake for a chicken farmer.  I even made a raw egg from fondant and piping gel on the side.

A 50th birthday cake for a friend.  Bra was fondant but the outside of the cake was buttercream roses.

A soccer shirt for a boy.

A special cake for my husband's birthday.  Possibly the biggest challenge.  This was a replica of a shotgun.  The shotgun and carrying bag was all edible, only the barrel of the gun was tubing not edible.

I hope you enjoy some of the cakes I have made.  I will be adding the new ones as I do them.
